Well, once again I started a blog post yesterday and just didn't get it done. Hmmm...
Probably didn't have to tell you that since I did manage to give you this today:

Oh man, this thing was so good! I made the pic clicky so you could see the recipe.
I finally figured out what has been bothering me. I haven't had a plan. I am a planner. If I do anything spontaneous, it would have to be planned spontaneity. Yeah, it's like that.
Now that I have running in my life, I have been a bit scattered about my workouts. I haven't liked that too much. To be honest with you, I miss the streak! Oh man, I knew I was running every day and that was great! At the same time, I missed my other workouts. I was still doing other things, but they were taking a back seat to the running. So I had to solve this little dilemma.
As much as I love running, I have other fitness goals and pleasures.

I am pretty happy that you can't see my armpits though, my razor and I keep forgetting about each other. Oops! Haha!
I like strength training! I like seeing muscle definition.

I love my workout DVD's. I love the 'me' time I get with them, just like I love running.

| Hey look...another muffin! Marble, SO good! |
I love all kinds of activities. I love to sweat. I love to bake my healthy stuff.
But training for this Half Marathon is definitely going to be a priority. So I had to have a plan!
I spent a lot of time looking at training schedules and trying to figure out what I like and what would allow me to fit everything in. I decided on a 12-week training plan for the Cleveland Marathon. That will start at the end of February. Right now, I have no aspirations to be a marathon runner. I am excited about doing the Half and I love running, but I want to have balance. At least that is where I am right now.
I am on week 2 of an 8-week 10k training plan. That distance is truly my goal 'cruising' distance.
I have committed to running 13 races in 2013.
It's a great goal, BTW! You can get in on it here!
I plan to make the 10k my 'go to' distance. I still want to run 5k's as well. Oh, and I want my other cardio and strength training! I know...I want a lot! Ha!
It is all do-able!
My current plan, until half training, has this break down:
Running 3 days
Cross Training 2 days
Yoga/stretching & Strength 1 day
Another strength day on the short run day
1 rest day
They are all nonconsecutive days and the runs get longer by 1/2 mile with each week.
I am happy with the plan!
I will chat about the Half Marathon training on Marathon Monday!
Having a plan makes me happy!

STUFT Mama has been playing with a recipe and I thought I would tweak it and see what I thought.
The jury is still out...

Hey girl, I have to tell you, when I saw the picture of your arm on Twitter, I was like WOWZAHS! I so covet your arms. I have worked on and off for years with the goal of really toning up my arms, but never got serious enough to make it happen. Thanks for the inspiration and I love your humorous side in this post ("keepin' it classy!" LOL!)
ReplyDeleteAnyway, great plan! I'm working on mine as well, now I just gotta figure out how to include blogging about it into my schedule! I'm looking forward to following your training! See you at the Cleveland 1/2!
You really are the muffin queen! I wish that I had more time to bake because I love it. Hopefully I will have more time to do fun things like that in the future.
ReplyDeleteI always have to have a plan too. I am so type a that it is ridiculous. My husband is the polar opposite and it drives me nuts!
Hmmm... wonder who coined the term "planned spontaneity.
