Thursday is my short run day. It is also a strength training day.
That means it is usually a butt kicker because tomorrow is a dreaded rest day.
Ok, I don't usually rest. That's my confession for the day. Haha!
I had the toughest strength training workout I think I have ever had this morning.
55 minutes of nonstop weights and then an ab portion that I am going to feel tomorrow, in a big way!
I have never in my life felt like barfing when I worked out. Running all out? Yeah...that feeling is there sometimes. But I about lost it on the ab session. It's probably weird that I like that, right?
Not the almost puking thing, but truly pushing myself.
It is easy to settle in to a routine. Once you do that, you are no longer challenging your body and your muscles. That makes the workout a waste of time really, and that's not good!
My workout today was a new one from my fav trainer/teacher, Kelly Coffey-Meyer.
I have several of her DVD's. (Remember my other confession?)
I tried out the "Muscle Definition" DVD today, and opted for a full upper body premix with ab/core thrown in there. Holy cow! My arms have been feeling it all day!
I bundled up for my 2 mile run and hit the streets.
I will be glad when it is warmer. Even with warm muscles from the workout, that cold air adds a little something to each run and it isn't the kind of something I'd really like to have. Ugh!
The first mile felt sluggish, which stinks when it is only a 2 mile run. But I caught my flow and sailed through the second mile. Runtastic is awesome! You have to check out the app, seriously!
It shows my 1st mile at a 9:47 pace and my 2nd at 8:36, so yeah...it wasn't my imagination!
|I even look happy!|
It was a good run. I felt great, still do. If you ever doubt the runner's high, don't! You don't have to run long, you don't have to run hard. As a matter of fact, sometimes that high comes just because your run is over!
When that feeling hits you, enjoy it! Just ride it out.
I will call this day a success!
Had this awesome Vanilla Spice Protein Muffin after my run...
Even scored some great deals at the grocery store today.
Gotta love that!
I'll announce the winner of the Choice Organic Tea giveaway tomorrow!
